I have recently completed a year long Art Journal Round Robin with some creative artists who were members of the Mermaid Circus Online Workshop.
We each created a blank journal in a theme we liked, and by following a list (created by the round robin administrator) we shipped it off to commence its year long journey around the group.
Each month we received a journal to create in before shipping it off to the next destination. We also have a Facebook group where we share our art in the making and in final form. It was the first time I have joined a group like this, It’s a wonderful way to connect with other artists and to prompt you to create each month.
My Journal is titled Spooks & Boo, artists were encouraged to create to a haunted theme.
Here it is in the making:
I illustrated the Moon Face with prismacolor pencils and acrylic paint.
The background was a mixture of ‘After Midnight’ Dylusion spray, ‘Faded Jeans’ Distress stain and white glitter.
After it’s year long journey, it returned to me chock full of spooky mixed media master pieces.
Check out the video I made of its flip through below:
If you haven’t taken part in a Journal swap before, I highly recommend it.
I created some of my best work in those journals, perhaps because I wasn’t attached to the final piece when starting, so I didn’t over think it. I became very attached on completion so made sure I took a lot of photos before sending on to the next artist.
